Using Google Calendar

If you haven’t discovered (and/or use) Google Calendar it’s worth taking a look. It allows you to share calendars with others, and to add additional “public” calendars to your own calendar view. There is also a wealth of free (and $) utilities out there to synchronize your Google Calendar with other calendars, and devices such as mobile phones, etc.

Another reason to use Google Calendar is that the Pack 19 calendar is one of those “public” Google Calendars you can overlay on top of your own calendar. There are also public calendars for the Union County Public Schools, and the Union County Scouting District. (more…)

Getting Boys Excited About Reading

Is your son a reluctant reader? There is a must-read article in the September 2008 issue of Scouting magazine that examines why boys tend to be less excited about reading (as compared to girls), and what kinds of books are most interesting to young boys. The article cites a web site, www.guysread.com, that suggests books such as “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” and “The Day My Butt Went Psycho”.

Cub Scout Pack 19 is chartered by Kensington Elementary School in Waxhaw, NC. We are part of the Union County District, and the Central NC Council.
